  7. DADA raised to 60% from 1 January 2026

    The Union Cabinet approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief, from 58% to 60% of basic pay and pension, with effect from 1 January 2026.

  8. OfficialQuestionnaire and memorandum submissions open

    The Commission invited views through a questionnaire and memorandum submission on its website, and later issued guidelines for engaging consultants (10 April 2026).

  9. Official8th Pay Commission formally constituted

    The Government notified the constitution of the Eighth Central Pay Commission in the Gazette. The Commission is based at Chanderlok Building, Janpath, New Delhi.

  10. OfficialCabinet approves terms of reference and members

    Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai was named Chairperson, Prof. Pulak Ghosh as part-time Member and Shri Pankaj Jain as Member-Secretary. The Commission is to report within 18 months, and its recommendations are normally expected to take effect from 1 January 2026.

  11. DADA raised to 58% from 1 July 2025

    A 3% increase in DA and DR, from 55% to 58%.

  12. OfficialCabinet approves setting up the 8th Pay Commission

    The Union Cabinet approved the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission to revise the pay and pensions of Central Government employees and pensioners.
