1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to your use of Pay Commission Calculator at 8thpay.in (“the website”). The website is created and run by NE Media, the name under which an individual based in India operates this website (referred to here as “NE Media”, “I”, “me” or “my”). NE Media is not an incorporated company.

By opening or using the website, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

2. About the website

The website is a free online calculator that estimates monthly salary, allowances, deductions and income tax for Central Government employees and teachers under the 7th Central Pay Commission, and gives projections for the 8th Central Pay Commission. It does not ask for any personal details and does not require an account. All calculations run in your own browser.

3. No Government connection

The website is an independent personal project. It is not an official website and is not connected to, endorsed by, sponsored by or run on behalf of the Government of India, any State Government, the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Personnel and Training, the Department of Expenditure, the University Grants Commission, the Income Tax Department, any Pay Commission, or any other public authority. Any names of Government bodies, schemes or pay scales are used only to describe what the calculator covers.

4. Estimates only

All results are estimates for general information. They are not a pay slip, pay fixation, sanction, entitlement or official statement of any kind. In particular:

• 8th Pay Commission: the fitment factor, pay matrix, DA, HRA and other rates for the 8th CPC have not been notified. All 8th CPC figures are assumptions and will likely differ from the final orders.
• Pay matrix and rates: pay matrix values, DA and HRA rates, city classifications, transport allowance and other figures are compiled from public sources, may be simplified, and may contain errors or be out of date.
• Income tax: tax is estimated for a full year at the monthly pay shown, using slab rates NE Media believes to be current. It leaves out many personal factors and is not a tax computation.
• Your inputs: results depend on the figures and options you choose. Wrong inputs will give wrong results.

Your actual pay and tax are decided only by your department, your Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO), official Government orders and the Income Tax Department. Always check with them before relying on any figure.

5. No professional advice

Nothing on the website is financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting or career advice, and no professional or advisory relationship is created by using it. Do not make decisions about loans, investments, tax filing, choosing a tax regime or pension scheme, career moves or legal claims based only on this website. Consult a qualified professional or your office.

6. Who may use the website

The website is intended for adults (18 years or older). If you are under 18, please use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

7. Acceptable use

You may use the website only for your own personal, non-commercial purposes (see section 8). You agree not to:

• use the website for anything unlawful, fraudulent or misleading, including presenting its results as an official Government calculation or document;
• attempt to hack, disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the website, its hosting or related systems;
• introduce viruses, malicious code or harmful content;
• use bots, scrapers or automated tools to copy or extract content in bulk;
• copy, reproduce, republish, frame or mirror the website or substantial parts of it, or pass it off as your own;
• click on advertisements artificially, generate fake traffic, or encourage others to do so;
• remove or change any notice, disclaimer or attribution on the website.

NE Media may block access for anyone who breaks these rules.

8. No commercial use without permission

The website is offered only for personal, non-commercial use. Nobody may use the website, its calculator, its results or its content for any commercial purpose without the prior written permission of NE Media.

“Commercial use” includes, for example:

• using the calculator or its results as part of a paid service, such as salary, pay fixation, arrears, pension or tax consultancy, coaching, or preparing figures for clients;
• selling, licensing or charging for access to the calculator, its results, or reports or documents based on them;
• copying, embedding, framing, re-creating or imitating the calculator in another website, app, software, publication, video or social media channel that earns money, including through advertising, subscriptions or sponsorships;
• using the website’s content, design, rates or code to build or promote a competing product or service;
• collecting, scraping or extracting data or content from the website for any business purpose, including building datasets or training software or artificial intelligence models;
• using the website on behalf of a company, firm, agency or organisation to provide services to others for a fee.

What is allowed without permission: using the calculator for your own pay, allowances and tax, including as a government employee or pensioner checking your own figures; sharing a link to the website; and sharing your own results with family, friends or colleagues free of charge.

How to ask for permission

If you would like to use the website or any part of it commercially, email NE Media (section 19) before any such use, explaining who you are, what you want to use, and how and where it will be used. Permission is valid only if given in writing by NE Media. It may be refused, may come with conditions or a fee, applies only to the use described, and may be withdrawn at any time. Silence or a lack of reply does not mean permission.

Commercial use without written permission is a breach of these Terms and may infringe NE Media’s rights. NE Media may block access, ask for the use to stop, and take any action available under law.

9. Intellectual property

The website’s design, layout, text, graphics, code and the way the calculator is put together belong to NE Media, except for third-party material such as fonts and advertisements, which belong to their respective owners. Government orders, pay scales and tax slabs themselves are public information and are not claimed by NE Media.

You may share links to the website and quote short extracts of your own results with a link back. Any other copying or adaptation, and any commercial use, requires NE Media’s prior written permission as explained in section 8.

10. Advertisements and links

The website shows advertisements, including display and video ads, supplied by third parties such as Google AdSense. It may also contain links to other websites. NE Media does not control, check or endorse these ads, advertisers, products, services or websites, and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, offers or privacy practices. Any dealings you have with advertisers or linked websites are solely between you and them.

11. No warranties

The website and all its content and results are provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, NE Media makes no warranty that the website or its results will be accurate, complete, current, reliable, fit for a particular purpose, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, viruses or other harmful components.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NE Media will not be liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or connected with your use of, or inability to use, the website or its results. This includes, without limitation, loss of income, salary, arrears, tax, interest, penalties, savings, investments, opportunities or data, and any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, even if NE Media was told such loss was possible.

The website is provided free of charge. You agree that you use it entirely at your own risk and that you are solely responsible for checking any figure before relying on it. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NE Media from any claim, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the website, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any other person.

14. Availability and changes to the website

NE Media may change, update, suspend or stop the website, or any feature, rate or content on it, at any time and without notice. NE Media has no obligation to keep the website available, to update it when rates change, or to correct any error, though reasonable efforts will be made to keep it useful and accurate.

15. Privacy

The website does not ask for any personal details. How technical information, cookies and advertising are handled is explained in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

16. Changes to these terms

NE Media may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the website after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the website is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India. Before starting any formal proceedings, you agree to first contact NE Media by email and try to resolve the matter informally for at least 30 days.

18. General

• Severability: if any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
• No waiver: if NE Media does not enforce a right under these Terms, that does not waive the right.
• Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the disclaimer on the website, are the entire agreement between you and NE Media about the website.
